Welcome to otflyfish.com's raison d'être: The Really OT Firering Forum!
You may have gotten here from another fishing website. That's good, that's important to keep in mind that's a fishing website.
This, however, is not.
The following is a guide to help you get along and navigate some of the things you're not used to.

NEW ACCOUNTS:
All new accounts may need to be verified by an administrator. There are three of us. We occasional have lives, you may have to wait. Deal.
That's assuming that feature is turned on. As of September 2011, this is not turned on.

WHERE DID MY ACCOUNT GO?
It was probably deleted. We've established a "lurker policy," which is simple enough: Post something you fuckin' leech.
Seriously, we're not an exclusive club, but can I suggest that within your first few days you roll your sleeves up and make with the content. It doesn't take much, post an intro thread. Keep it simple, make it ornate, doesn't matter, just make it.
If your account's been deleted (and not banned), just re-create it... and then make with the content. I can assure you that failure to do so will simply get it deleted again.
And repeat offenders may very well be banned.

RULES:
1) Don't be a dick. Can you follow that one? No? Then don't bother hanging around here. You will be banned. Being a non-dick is the really the only rule, and its not too hard to deal with.
2) If its not safe for work, tell people. Write it out, or use an acronym (NWS, NSFW) before the links or in the titles. Ideally, if you're gonna put pics of boobies in your posts, then you're better off using a link and saying NSFW. NSFW content is cool, just warn people before you do it. Refusal to understand this concept constitutes being a dick.
3) The NSFW bullshit applies to everything. Sigs, avatars and the like. Some of us browse this at our jobs. We'd like to keep doing so.
4) Forum visibility. The "Off Topic/Fishing" forums and the News/Announcements/Crap forums are 100% public viewable. Try to keep your shit to the private side of the house, the Firering forums.

WHY DO I KEEP GETTING BULLSHIT EMAIL ABOUT RESPONSES?
Well, because you asked the board to do that to you. You can turn it off (or on, if you want) by clicking the option at the bottom of the post.

HOW TO PUT LINKS IN YOUR POSTS:
Along the top of the post editor is the URL button. Pressing it opens the
URL tag, pressing it again closes it. Whatever is between it will be the tags will be the link.

This will display like this: http://bit.ly/zDt5fE
To get a non-URL to be the link, use the URL tags, but type =LINK in the opening tag and whatever text you've marked will now be the link.

HOW TO POST IMAGES FROM YOUR COMPUTER:
This is how to use the free image host http://imgur.com/ to host pictures in your posts.
At their website, choose to upload from your computer.
Select your image, and select Start Upload.
When its complete, highlight and copy the BBCode field, and paste into your post editor. You may also use the Direct Link (email & IM) field and paste into an Img tag.

HOW TO UPLOAD AN AVATAR:
Use imgur to upload an image, please ensure its no more than 150 pixels wide (less is better), and not unreasonably more. Make it tasteful to the NSFW standards. Administrators are the final arbitrators of taste and excessive size, and gfen's a dick. Seriously, never more than 150 pixels, coz man that'll piss me off. Anyways, upload your avatar to imgur, then paste the Direct Link into your profile.
Then, paste that into the Link to an off-site Avatar box and submit.

You will need to ensure your profile allows HTML.
Once you've got this, you need to locate the Share button under the video.
Now you see a link, but click the Embed button.
Take this text and paste into your post.

Absolutely not, either. Never the intention, either. The general thought here, at least among the first few, is that the other board is an awesome resource for fishing, but maybe the guys who run it want to keep it more serious, while a some others just like to bullshit.
So, rather than let the bullshit continually being a thorn in their side, if some of the loudest assholes boil their nonsense over to another site, they can worry less about a rathole of arguing and pay attention to important business, or something.
Also, the first asshole was pretty much told to take an extended leave of absence.
So, maybe a refuge camp. Anyways, anyone is invited.
